(Well. I'm a tad annoyed right now - I somehow just lost everything I'd been writing for the past half-hour - but "life goes on"...)
In today's big news, I was going to go to the movies today...but then I didn't.
I have, however, gone to the movies a number of times since Jane's been gone and "The Lull" began: I've seen You Hurt My Feelings, Past Lives, and The Flash
(And if I had gone today, I would have seen either Asteroid City or Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse. I've also been eyeing that new Jennifer Lawrence movie with the generic title I can't think of right now, because I like her and the reviews have been better than expected.)
I've also gone to the Doctor for my annual checkup, something I'd been putting off for a while (My second PCP since I've lived in LA has moved on to greener pastures and I wasn't eager to break in a new one for whatever reason).
(I have a bunch of referrals after the checkup - Endo, Gastro, ENT, and..."OPTHO"? - none of which I have acted upon as of yet.)
I attended a big WGA rally with Josh, marching from Pan Pacific Park to the Tar Pits (Sadly, Josh had to bail once we got to the Tar Pits due to some gastrointestinal issues; I was tempted to bail along with him but hung out to listen to inspiring speeches from members of the WGA, SAG-AFTRA, the Teamsters, and assorted other unions supportive of the cause).
I might have picketed today - emphasis on "might have", since Josh is back in Kansas, helping his parents move - but they canceled picketing because I guess there's an "air quality alert" (I have to admit, I was kind of relieved).
I've added some movement-related classes to my "artsier" classes at GenSpace - A "Korean Tai-Chi" class and two dance classes - which Jane has been bugging me to do for a while now (They weren't so hard I thought I was gonna die, like my first time at Zumba, but I was more challenged than I expected).
Something that hasn't been happening very much is drawing (I drew something in class at GenSpace that Jane really liked, but that's been about it).
And this has been something I've thought about often, but haven't been able to get myself to actually do.
(Till now, of course.)
(Just checked to see if I'm officially "on strike" - The contract deadline has been extended to July 12, so "stay tuned".)
In film-festival news, Acting Like Nothing Is Wrong has been accepted by the Albuquerque Film Festival (And by another festival-which-shall-not-be-named, because I don't think Jane has announced it on Facebook yet).
(Those will be happening in August and September.)
And in what little "acting news" there is, thanks to a friend, I've been able to submit myself on the handful of projects that are out there...and I'm happy to report, one casting director bit (For a podcast) - I did that audition with Jane earlier this week.
While I want a new theatrical agency (My old one turned out to be playing fast-and-loose with its clients' money), till that happens, it's good to know that, once the strike stuff gets settled, I'll still be able to put myself out there for stuff.
Well, I don't know what kind of entry I'd planned to write...but this wasn't it.
But it's what I've got.
(Till next time)
