I should try to write as if others are not reading. I know they are. I wouldn't write so much if it weren't for all the other people reading. That is a good idea. I can relate to waiting unitl a storm passes to sit down and write. We shouldn't do that. I know it would help me if I wrote my way though those times. I might come up with some interesting stuff.

But you write mostly about YOU, and your personal take on the world--and Kevin writes "stories" that are theoretically NOT about Kevin... It's a different process. Yours is prone to more neuroses--but potentially more helpful if the purpose is for both yourself and "your public" to get to know you better.

I was actually writing about two different writing processes--Diaryland, and writing "creatively". In my mind, keeping a journal and "creative writing" have some OVERLAP, but I'd agree with you--They're obviously not the same animal.

I'd certainly agree too they're not the same animal, but don't you also agree good writing is good writing? (I'm a fan of Robert Pirsig's Platonic 'good'.) And by the way, I think your writing is good.

What good is Pirsig Addiann? Jim has a car and a bicycle. I do think you're right Jim, to think that the very act of writing, whether you know what it is you want to write or not, is an essential part of the art. I've been told that by people who actually manage to do it, with some degree of success. More than I'VE ever managed. Though sometimes it seems to me that writing is a very natural process. As natural as eating. I devour life experience, digest it, then sit at the keyboard and deliver a load of shit.

must be something in the Lansing water that accounts for these redundancies. I think your writing is good too, Jim.
