I can't believe David didn't ask if Michael was OK. David only cares about the numbers. The other day he tried to coerce me into buying something I was thinking about buying at the end of the day. Suddenly I realized why and I said to him "What are you, 50 cents short of today's sales plan?" He didn't have a word to say to that. I wish he cared a bit more about the well being of the employees than what the frickin' displays look like, and I wish he'd realize that shrink is caused by nutcases like the guy who assaulted Michael, and not by us. --Jason

Interesting entry. Be sure and let us know if that David ever realizes how his initial reaction was. I keep thinking he'll come around and THANK Michael and apologize for not expressing concern when he called. But then, maybe not. Makes you really dislike the big, impersonal chain stores.

I'm glad everything turned out (relatively) okay from Jimmy's Big Adventure. In my minute corner of the retail universe, we have a "hands off" policy on theft. We are to "alert" management or loss prevention when we suspect someone. I have no idea how LP or management would respond to an employee so quick witted/reacting! Looking at it from management's side, though, LAWSUITS loom large. People can and do sue over just about everything anyway, so I'm sure there are privacy or libel issues here. It's another example of what you read in Readers' Digest - can't think of the exact title of the dept., something like "that's amazing" (not in a good way) - where the drunk who gets his leg cut off cuz he passed out on the train track wins millions of dollars from the railroad industry for carlessness (or something)!!! Makes no sense. It may not always be only about dollars, but dollars are always a part of every picture!!! Hang in there and keep fighting the good fight!

Will you be mad at me if I say~~ that was a very interesting bit of storytelling? I really loved the writing! I'm sorry, of course, for what happened but just had to let you know how exciting that was to read.
