Jane, thanks for letting us know what's going on. Are you updating from MI or Cali? Tell Jim I'm thinking of him and wish him a speedy recovery.

Jane, I second what Carrie said. I am an old Schuler Books friend of Jim's. Let him know that I too wish him a quick and full recovery.

Just spoke with Jim -- I'll let him fill in all the gory details, but the short version is he's fine, they figured out what was wrong and corrected it, and he's recovering nicely. He will probably be in the hospital another 3-4 days for observation and then they'll go from there. The health insurance issue worked itself out and in fact he is no participating in a low-income coverage program, so he's not only covered for this but has health coverage going forward -- a silver lining! He sounded in good spirits (but hungry! They still won't let him eat) and is resting comfortably.

Jane, please give Jim my best wishes. I'm an old co-worker of his from Borders La Cienega.

I don't know you Cary except to read about you in here but your message is great. I'm an old friend of Jim's from Lansing. I assume it's now okay to call him at the hospital.

Alan, I'm sure Jim would love to hear from you -- I suspect his greatest enemy (well, besides hunger) is boredom at this point, and friendly voices will help keep that at bay! He's on a morphine drip, but seemed coherent and talkative when we spoke. Jane has the hosptial's number listed, and Jim is in room 706.

Thanks Cary. I'll call him now.

Found his blog while looking up the apartment info I was living in. I used to be a neighbor, moved out about 2 years ago and have beeen checking up now and again. Let him know that a couple that used to be on 7 (half-asian girl and tall white guy w/glasses) hope he's doing better. (Although, I don't believer we've ever formally met, but no matter.)

Glad to hear they've figured it out and he's OK. I saw him last week, we went to lunch, and I was worried that maybe he'd kept his leftover seafood salad too long!
