Actually, how "bad" kabobs are will depend upon what they've used as a marinade. I always drizzle mine with olive oil, which can add calories. That's a great insight you have on the "free food" issue. Now that you're aware of it you can keep it in the front of your mind. You're really doing great!

Good insights on the "starving for free food" thing. (I think you future book/blog could be on "emotional eating.") I think food emotionally symbolizes being "taken care of" and you were short on that/uncertain about that in the formative years, which gave you that get-it-while-you-can feeling because it (food, care, love) could disappear at any moment.

I'm an ignoramus on weight watchers - but I can lose a pound in a day and then gain two the next day. How can you rely on those weekly weigh-in statistics? Do you strip down? I do know that I lose more regularly if I weigh myself every morning, but it is a succky way to start the day. Congrats on sticking to it, though.

Forgot about the marinade...! I was just thinking "Grilled veggies, a little bit of steak - It can't be THAT bad, can it?" ("...he said, hoping against hope that it was true"). But in any case, your body tells you when you've had enough, if you're bothering to listen (Unfortunately, I experienced some temporary DEAFNESS that night)...Yeah Jane, that's pretty where I go to explain that bit of weirdness to myself - "Well, I've never gone HUNGRY, but that doesn't mean I wasn't 'hungry' in OTHER ways". I just have to realize, like Lynn said, that "the answer" isn't food...Gail, I don't "strip down" (I don't know if the mostly female group could handle the EXCITEMENT), but I do take off everything I can (Including my watch). And it's funny - I think one of the "secrets of my success" is that I'm ONLY weighing myself once a week. If I were getting on the scale every day, I think I'd have made myself crazy with frustration and given up long before now. Thanks for the support, Ladies! :)
